Calculating your BMI gives you an indication if you are carrying too much body fat.
As a general rule healthy BMI for adults is between 19 and 26. A BMI of 27 to
30 is considered overweight. Obesity is classified as a BMI of 30 or above.
A low BMI may be just as dangerous as having a high BMI.
If your BMI results is in the overweight or obese range, you are at greater than average risk for conditions such as heart disease, type 2 diabetes, and high blood pressure.
Result notes
BMI values apply to adult men and women, however there are some exceptions:
Using strict nutritional supplementation some competitive athletes and body
builders can keep their levels at low levels for prolonged periods without the
usual negative health risks. Pregnant or nursing women may have a higher BMI
without being considered overweight, and frail or sedentary elderly people may
have lower BMI rates without being considered unhealthy .
